One of the most common swing faults that frustrates golfers, particularly beginners and those on a higher handicap is slicing the ball. The ball will in the beginning fly left of the target line then will swerve drastically right. The following hints and tips will show how to fix golf slice and consequently stay straight and add more distance.

The slice is a weak shot lacking in power and will time and again fly higher than it should. The reason it curves to the right is because the ball has been struck with an open face consequently aiming off to the left.

Incorrect grip and hand action is usually the cause of this shot which means that the club face returns to the ball in an open position, aiming to the right of the ball to target line. This results in the ball finishing right of your target. Many golfers aim further left to try to compensate for it.

Unfortunately the more you allow for your slice the more likely you are to perpetuate it. By aiming considerably left your swing path is likely to go the same way and you must deliver the club face in an open position, or the ball will fly straight left, consequently you bring about a vicious circle.

We need to look carefully at the grip to fix golf slice. When you set up, your left hand should hold the grip in the fingers, not too tight. The V's between thumb and first finger of both hands should point toward the right shoulder not your chin. Another way to check that your grip is accurate is to look down at your left hand and you should be able to see at least two knuckles.

Ensure that your feet and shoulders are parallel to the target line, and your left shoulder should be higher than the right one. Also don't place the ball too far forward in your stance as this will also contribute to an open face.

Now let's look at the swing. Make sure that you are not rolling your hands because this will open the club face on the takeaway. The club face and the shoulder plane shoud be on the same angle at the top of the backswing. Make a full shoulder turn keeping your weight on the right leg.

On the downswing, swing the club down from the top with your hands and arms from the inside, moving your arms in unison close to the right hip. Move your arms away from the left hip to clear the left side on the through swing. The back of the left hand and forearm should rotate within the arc of the swing and the club shaft must point downwards on the follow through as your weight shifts onto your firm left leg.

You will learn how to fix golf slicein no time by following these hints and tips and will be hitting right down the middle of the fairway and will be achieving more distance.
